My legs and arms were still skinny, and I was eating 900 calories a day, running 3 miles a day, going to the gym, and training for a half-marathon….. But, every year after I turned 45, my belly was rapidly expanding and my students were asking me if I was pregnant!! Sadly, other unpleasant changes were also occurring…. I started to lose my hair, I developed huge eye bags, lines around my mouth, and I was constantly fatigued…. I felt like I was walking around in a brain fog and was worried about getting Alzheimer’s Disease like my father had…. I would wake up with a swollen face, and my face would turn bright red for no reason ( so embarrassing!!). I had joint pain, had to quit training for the half-marathon, and the doctors thought I had Lupus….

It is so hard to be a single mom, raise three teenagers, and be a busy 4th grade teacher too…. My house was in constant need of repairs, and I had to take out loans to pay for which was stressing me out…. Needless to say, my dating life came to a screeching halt and I was really lonely…. I lived on a mountain in East TN, and it was very isolating to be single ( I even was chased by a coyote once!!).

I was so depressed, I knew I had to do something drastic, so I tried the Keto Diet….. I then added fasting and I literally changed into a butterfly in one month…. All of the belly fat vanished and I had a 25 inch waist again!! I was back to 128 pounds, taking belly dance classes, dating again, planning a move to Nashville, and starting my blog….. Now I know, what the “alien” was that took over my body and nearly ruined my life…..Hormonal Imbalance!!

Our society exposes up to an endless barrage of chemicals and some of these chemicals mimic estrogen in the body… These chemicals are call endocrine disrupting chemicals and are found in our water supply, plastics, and products that we use on our bodies such as parabens…. Worse yet, herbicides and pesticides sprayed on the food we eat also mimic estrogen in the body…. We literally are swimming in a cesspool of noxious chemicals!! These chemicals bind to estrogen receptors in men and women causing too much estrogen…. Too much estrogen creates “belly fat”…. But, it gets worse, your belly fat changes your testosterone to estrogen causing men and women to grow huge breasts and bellies….

Why is too much estrogen a bad thing???

Both men and women produce estrogen and it is necessary for good health, but too much estrogen leads to HUGE health problems in men and women… Just walk anywhere, do you notice men all have “man boobs” and women have huge, swollen breasts and bellies too??? I am naturally a thin woman, but I develop huge, swollen breasts and a belly that looked six months pregnant!! My hormones were unbalanced and I was miserable…. Too much estrogen also causes breast and colon cancer, blood clots, diabetes, and dementia…… I did have a breast cancer scare….

What happens when you have too much estrogen??

Both men and women can have too much estrogen….. Sadly we see this in young girls too who are getting breasts at the age of five and their periods in 3rd grade!! Everything I did to lose the belly fat was easy!! I started a strict Keto Diet for one month ( less than 20 grams of carbs), then added intermittent fasting ( I fasted from 8 PM until noon each day), and one 24 hour fast a week…. I did “clean” Mediterranean Keto, and added more healthy carbs in after the first month…. I only did the weekly 24 hour fasts for one month…. I still ran every day and started to take dance class on Thursday which was my 24 hour fast day ( the dancing was so much fun, I never even felt hungry!)….I also took care of my gut biome with weekly homemade bone broth…. I am going on 6 years and haven’t changed anything, I still eat Keto Mediterranean, practice intermittent fasting until noon each day, walk 2 miles in the morning, and lift weights at Gold’s Gym a few days a week. I do drink electrolytes while fasting and take magnesium glycinate at night….

Big Changes, New Life!!!

After I lost my belly fat, all the bad symptoms slowly started to disappear…… I had suffered from horrible panic attacks and anxiety, but I started to feel calmer in spite of more stress in my life…. My hair grew in thick and full, my wrinkles disappeared ( balanced hormones will thicken your skin), joint pain disappeared, and I had the energy of a 20 year old!! All my brain fog disappeared and even colors looked brighter!!
